Unfortunately, things just got more tragic with news that the matriarch of its killer whale family has died . Officials at the park in San Diego confirmed that Kasatka, a 41-year-old orca, died "surrounded by members of her pod, as well as the veterinarians and caretakers who loved her.

Gabriela Cowperthwaite directed the Bafta-nominated 2013 film and is aware that 'the Blackfish effect' may be working its magic on the decisions of bosses. Her efforts brought the living conditions of the whales to public attention and flooded SeaWorld with negative publicity, leading to lower attendance rates.
"I didn't think this would have this kind of impact," she said in an interview with the The San Diego Union Tribute. "All we could do is strike a nerve. The rest has been everybody's response to the film. Those are the real warriors, those who have chosen not to go...."

The animals activists who are concerned about the "feelings" of the killer whales have ensured that the Orca show will eventually end if SeaWorld is not allowed to breed new Orcas at the park. Shame on the protestors. They even indoctrinate their kids to believe the whales are "lonely" and "depressed". Going to SeaWorld as a kid and seeing them ride the whales (which they can't do anymore as well) was a great THRILL,and I was a seaworld member as an adult for many years until recently. Future generations will not get to experience the orcas close-up. And the film that supposedly "exposed" seaworld has also been exposed itself for some misleading and/or totally false aspects.
